Nikon EN-EL15 charger

Good evening all,
This is my first post on this here forum!
I received a very nice gift from a friend in Europe. A barely used Nikon D7100 – without the battery charger!
I’d appreciate any advice on where to find such 2nd hand. They are pricey new!
The charger is the MH-25 and the batter the EN-EL15. I also need the USB cable (UC-E6) but I am hopeful that I’d be able to find this easy enough since it looks to be a USB A to Mini-B 8 Pin cable (https://tethertalk.com/2013/09/10/nikon-d7100-usb-tethering-cable/).
Thanks.

Gerhard, I have a Hanel universal charger for Nikon. This handles the EN-EL15 and also has the advantage that it can charge from 12 or 220V. If I remember correctly, it was about R450?

I also have the same universal charger – but have never used it (bought it for the road) but it does fit a variety of batteries.

Good – thanks for the feedback. It helps other members too.

Unfortunately I spoke too soon. It seems the battery is dead. It will not charge. When I connect it to the charger it reads either 20% – where it will stay no matter how long it “charges”, or it reads 70% and then after about 5min it reads 100%.
The camera doesn’t turn on at all. So tomorrow I’ll have to go try to get the battery tested (probably CameraLand in Sandton unless I can find a place in East Gate which is close to me) and if it is dead buy a new one.
I think the answer is No, but I’ll ask anyway. Can the battery be charged while in the camera through the USB?

Ouch – but keep us posted…

Gerhard, if you want to drop by, we can see if one of my batteries works in your camera?
I am in Kempton Park.Battery cannot be charged through the USB cable.

I popped in to Kameraz in Rosebank after work and they recon the battery is dead. The guy put the battery in my Hahnel charger to see if it could switch on the charger’s display which it could not.
I got a replacement battery.
Thanks for the offer Peter. I think I am OK for now. I am getting the original charger at the end of the month. I’ll check then if IT can charge the battery. If it turns out that the batter is in fact not dead, no harm. I’ll just have a spare then which is not a bad thing.
Regards,
Gerhard
