I am going on holiday next week and I was wondering if there are any decent camera shops that do lens rentals in the Umhlanga, Umdloti or Balito area?

I would like to get a few nice sunrise shots as well, which lens would you suggest? I have a Canon 400D so Canon lenses would be used.

Any information would be of great help.. Thanks..

Hi Peterv, I’m going for 10 days but would only need to rent a lens or 2 for 2 or 3 days. That’s why I’m looking for a rental place in Umdloti, Umhlanga or Balito. 🙂

I cannot believe that there is no camera shop in KZN that rent lenses.. 🙁 I don’t know what I am going to do now.. I really cannot afford to rent 2 lenses for 10-12 days, it would work out a small fortune at R3300 for 10-12 days 😮

    ODP rental..
    Canon 24-105 L = R1650 for 10 days
    Canon 70-200 F/4.0 IS = R1650 for 10 days

This is a big business opportunity for someone in KZN then.. Camera lens rental.

Sorry to revive this thread – has anything changed in the last two years?

I’m doing a wedding in Durbs in Sept, and also making a holiday of it, and I need to rent some equipment. I’d prefer renting down there as it will work out a LOT cheaper!

So my idea is to start a rental company, I will either be based in Queensburgh or Hillcrest.
I have just turned 23 so if my store does not have much, please understand.

I will do my best to stock up on as much gear as possible, but…
Do the majority of Kzn photographers need full frame lenses or cropped sensor lenses?
This question is an important one to me.

Mainly I am aiming at building up gear for wedding photography so that photographers can offer amazing low light quality, but my goal can be changed to try achieve what is in high demand.

Do Photographers rent flashes, eg; I have an SB910 and I use it on the camera, off the camera, to control my Yongshou flashes. I personally would rent a flash, but what do Kzn photographers need & want?

I may possibly only afford 1 full frame.. Nikon D610 or Canon 6D? I pick the 6D for it’s amazing low light capabilities(high ISO & low noise), great for weddings. But what would people prefer?

Also would my idea be a good one or a bad one?
