70-200 lens for Nikon

I’m considering a 70-200 lens for a Nikon. I’m stuck between a new Tokina AT-X 70-200 f4 Pro or a second hand Nikon 70-200 f2.8G ED. I saw good reviews on the Tokina and the Nikon is well know. The one 1 new (newer technology) but f4. Not too worried about f2.8 vs f4. Both are more or less in the same price range. Does anybody have some experience with these lenses? I will appreciate your views.

What are you shooting – DX or FX

the reason why I asked – if you had a FX body – you would do better with the 70-200 VRii and not the VRi
The reports are that the 70-200 f4 is excellent and tack sharp.
The reports are also that Tokina’s lenses are really really good – especially the 11-16, but I can specifically say I read that about the Tokina 70-200. I would research the Tokina properly if I were you, before buying.
The Nikon is apparently worth every cent – but 5k more expensive than the Tokina
