I would rather recommend the Sigma EX 50-500, better optics and build quality than the cheaper 150-500 and 120-400, although a little more expensive. Also consider shopping around for 2nd hand 300/2.8 (nonVR) and use with a 1.4 or 1.7x TC, more expensive still but an optically excellent lens. The 150-500 tends to go soft from 400+, wide open, and AF is not the best and accurate at longer ranges for accurate lock-on in focus tracking modes (Canon bodies) The 80-400VR is optically better than the 150-500 (from what I’ve seen on my friend’s lens used on a D300) but the AF is slowish.
