I come from a repro background (lithographer/repro/print).
16 Years ago, I earned R3773. Today (gumtree and elsewhere) they want to pay R4500 (no medical aid, pension, own car, pens, coffee etc. work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays if possible).
I’d like to know what planet they’re living on – where the cost of living is so darn cheap! 😮
Employment trend seems to be if you don’t like it, then lump it.
Graphics/printing etc. jobs are nothing but sweatshops in disguise.
You’re employed to do the jobs of 5 people… at the pay of half a person.
Dealing with clients has become the job of the designer/operator.
That used to be the job of the production controller/s.
It’s disgusting what these people expect today.
Freelancing, not surprisingly has become very popular.
