Great composition. I feel however that the white under the wing is a bit blown out (overexposed) Just my opinion!

Love the conversion, but agree with others about those whites.

Thanks for the comments, the colour version didn't "pop" like the b&w. The shot was slightly overexposed, but I decreased the exposure in ARC. After the b&w conversion - PS says there are small areas where the whites are blown. Thanks again.

Andrew Aveley acted as the guest judge for the beginners choice this week.

As for this weeks beginners choice, its been made extremely difficult because a huge number of photographers in the Avian gallery donít have levels attached to there profile and there are in fact very few "beginners"

      Reasons:

Composition great IMO, could use little on the left by all normal rules but tight comp nice with angle of the subject across the frame done well in this image
Exposure: covered in comments but still acceptable if reworked as discussed by other more advanced photographers
Post Processing: Not what one would normally consider for avian ( B&W conversion) but out the box thinking here has been well received. Like the subtle greys and blacks. Image sharp where it must be.

Overall a great image and something different being the key for me

      Andrew
