So how long does it take to train a swallow to perform tasks on demand. Well done, great shot.

Ja nee. My camera only gives me pictures with no birds if I try this. This is top of the charts.

      Moderator's Choice - Beginner
This week Hendri Venter (HendriV) kindly agreed to be Guest Judge for this selection. The purpose of this Moderator's Choice is to recognise beginners who have produced shots that are worthy of merit for their level, and also to offer a comprehensive critique to encourage further advancement.
      Hendri says:
      Hi Hugh,
As guest judge for this week's beginners, I selected your image as winner for WC.
You have done extremely well in capturing this “Lesser Striped Swallow”, a small and fast moving bird. Your timing was perfect and you positioned yourself well which allowed you a very good capturing angle.
Your choice of aperture and ISO were spot on, which allowed you a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the fast action and still get enough depth of field.
The subject is sharp with very good detail and the very important eye contact is bright and clearly visible. Your choice of composition is spot on and also your chosen title.
It is hard to fault this image but could have been better if you could get it with the beak touching the water.
Congratulations with your stunning shot and a very well done to you.
      Hendri Venter
