Very well captured. Nice and sharp with lots of detail against a perfect BG. Very well exposed and the composition works well.

Thanks very much for the kind comments. It was low-light and rainy, but I was really happy with the details.

Great moment captured Hugh. Nice and close with good detail and interesting catch a big bonus. I like the fibers flying to show the moth's movement. Good comp and clean bg. WD

      Moderator's Choice - Beginner

This week Anton Roos (fram) kindly agreed to be Guest Judge for this selection. The purpose of this Moderator's Choice is to recognise beginners who have produced shots that are worthy of merit for their level, and also to offer a comprehensive critique to encourage further advancement.

      Anton says:

Bird and moth both pin sharp and I like the detail captured. The image is well exposed, for the time of day, to show detail in the blacks and whites. Good use of exposure compensation. The comp works well but I feel that if you moved the bird a little more to the left in the frame it might work better. Bg is perfect and noise free. The angle is good and like the detail on the prey. The "moth dust" is very natural but personally I would remove it as it pulls my eye away from the moth itself. That is not a nit and many people would probably differ from me on that. A very pleasing image of an ordinary bird. Well done.
